The very first thing every player needs: a safe little home to survive your first few nights. This guide walks you through a simple stone-and-wood base you can build on Day One — no fancy redstone, no rare blocks, just the basics that keep creepers out.

Step-by-Step
1Lay a 7×5 stone foundation
Flatten a patch of dirt and lay down cobblestone in a 7-by-5 block rectangle. Stone stops fires and creepers from blowing your floor apart. Dig one block down first so your walls sit flush.
2Raise walls 4 blocks high
Stack cobblestone or wood planks 4 blocks high all the way around. Leave a 2-block gap on one short side for your door. Add a torch every 4 blocks so monsters never spawn inside.
3Roof it, add a door & windows
Cap the top with planks or stone, then pop in a wooden door and a few glass windows. Place your bed, crafting table, furnace, and a chest — you've got a home!
★ Pro tip: Always put your door one block above the ground — spiders can't climb up to it, and you can still walk out easily.
